Jabber Box

I love this stage of life with Gabe. Will be the first to admit I struggled the first 6 months, but 17 months is just a lot of fun. I think my favorite part is seeing him begin to understand the things we're talking with him about and hearing him pick up new words. The kid's a serious jabber box. Thought it would be a fun idea to have a 'record' of his first words. So without further ado...here's some Gabe-speak:

1. Uh-oh! (No 'mama' or 'daddy'...Gabe's first word was uh-oh as he throws toys off the couch or down the stairs)
2. Da-t (dad: wins the award for first word and most often said. He often asks for da-t and point anytime the house comes into view)
3. Muma (mom: often said with tears as I leave...sniffle)
4. Nana/Noni (grandmas)
5. Papa/Pop (grandpas)
6. P-p-p (puppy)
7. Hot hot (started as his word for food, now it really does mean food is hot. He'll say hot, hot when we blow on food or if the stove burner is on)
8. Ta-tu (thank you)
9. Ball (this ones very clearly pronunciated)
10. Mo (also clearly pronunciated and sadly often said as a demand with a pointing index finger. Someday we'll add please to the list...)
11. Choos (shoes. This comes with Gabe finding my shoes, daddy's shoes and his shoes. All in an effort to get outside)
12. Ow (out: again focused around getting outside)
13. Up (loves going up the stairs. There's often an 'up, up' and pointing involved)
14. Moo (as previously mentioned, he loves him a cow...)
15. Ow-si (outside)
16. Ka-ker (crackers, he LOVES plain old crackers)
17. Awa (May not technically count, but an honorary mention goes to his pal Adelaide. He was pointing to her picture this morning and after a bit of repeating by Ryan and I, Gabe did attempt saying Adelaide)
18. Bu-bye (came for the first time this morning when we were waving bye to Ryan on his way to work)
19. Bu (Bike: another honors mention since he can't pronounce it all that well, Gabe gets super excited when he knows we're going for a bike ride)
20. Ahh (last word that's not a word just cause it's so cute. Ryan taught Gabe to smack his lips and 'ahh' after he takes a refreshing drink of water. It's my favorite)

We luckily still haven't learned 'no'. I'm hoping that one will wait for a while! So we'll give him an official 17 words at 17 months. Good job, bug!!!
